INTERNSHIPS

Originally a project to help celebrate the tenth anniversary of Morris Tomorrow, internships are given from time to time to area not-for-profit organizations and government agencies as a way to promote involvement by young people in long term quality of life projects. Proceeds from the Lunar Classic are used to fund this program.

The Langdon Palmer Memorial Internship Program was created in memory of Langdon “Don” Palmer, a resident of Washington Township. Don was clearly one of the region’s outstanding conservation leaders and philanthropists and a shining example of how one person can make a profound and lasting difference. Through his efforts, the County created a dedicated program to preserve open space and farmland. To date, the Morris County Open Space and Farmland Preservation Trust Fund has generated over $300 million and permanently preserved over 18,000 acres of significant open space and farmland throughout Morris County.

Don was also involved in many organizations including:

       • The New Jersey Conservation Foundation

       • The Nature Conservancy

       • Morris Tomorrow

       • The Land Conservancy of New Jersey

       • Washington Township Land Trust

       • Advisory Council for the Trust for Public Land

       • The Morris County Park Commission

       • Morris County Agriculture Development Boardn
